Pre-application consultation on complementary earthworks proposed on land at Nant Helen Surface Mine at the head of the Dulais Valley (18 February – 25 March 2020)
Nant Helen Surface Mine restoration: earthworks consultation
Following the submission of the revised restoration scheme for the Nant Helen Surface Mine, Celtic Energy Ltd is carrying out a 28 day statutory consultation on complementary earthworks proposed for the site from 18 February to 25 March 2020. Comments will then be reviewed before the planning application is finalised and submitted to the Local Planning Authorities.
The revised restoration proposal looks to provide a flexible landform that can be used or adapted for a diverse set of future uses. This could range from the traditional agriculture, woodland and nature conservation uses, to amenity, leisure and tourism uses. It could also include industrial uses such as the Welsh Government?s proposal to develop a Global Centre of Rail Excellence for rail testing and storage.
The planning application includes earthworks with cutting and embankments as well as drainage works associated with the revised landform.
The draft planning application is available for review below. For details on how to comment on the application please scroll to bottom of this page.
